For years I had a bad, unbalanced nutrition of body and soul. I did not exercise, did not sleep enough and did everything that a healthy person certainly would avoid. I thought I liked my job and figured that feeling constantly stressed and pressured would be normal. I was not really happy and often felt sick, unmotivated and spiritless. I kind of did „what society had planned for me“ and always wanted to fit in. I went to high school, went to college, got my first job and had worked in corporate for only 2 years when I learned that there is something way more important than having a career and making money – my HEALTH. During my recovery from being totally burned out I learned in small batches what I had ignored for too long. I learned to sleep again, eat healthy food and I could feel how it nourished my body. I used walks in nature to breathe deeply and learned to recognize nature’s beauty and healing power.
Eventually, I also changed jobs because I felt that this step would also support my well-being. After only a couple of months I could feel myself being dragged down again. In that same direction that I wanted to avoid so bad. What was happening? Had I not done everything that was necessary to stay strong and be healthy and happy in my job? I had even moved to a new city, built new relationships and got a new job in a company that I really could identify with and that I thought was making me happy.
I thought of changing my job again, I focused on my nutrition even more and looked for activities outside my work. I immersed into the field of self-development and through becoming a neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) practitioner I already learned techniques to handle stressful situations better at work. But it was only when I found IIN that I found out what had been the missing piece throughout my whole journey so far: I was looking to find happiness externally, when the only place I could create it was inside of me. Not even did I learn a lot about nutrition and food that you can feed your body but I learned all about primary food and a balanced lifestyle: It’s easy to overlook all of the things that contribute to our sense of nourishment and fulfillment. It’s not just the food we eat that affects our health, but all of the other factors present in our daily lives. Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity, and a spiritual awareness are essential forms of nourishment. When these primary foods are balanced, what you eat becomes secondary. Through increasing my spirituality and figuring out what brings joy to my life I realized that only I could become happy from inside.
Living a fulfilled and meaningful life includes retrieving your full potential and strength. Being happy and healthy is not only about the food you eat and the physical activity that you get in every day. It is also about having a career that serves your talents and gives added value to your lifestyle, it is about spirituality and joy that your lifestyle provides you with.
